Every year, some players come home from a showcase trip with coaches asking about them — and some come home with nothing but a tan. The difference is rarely talent. It is preparation and habits.
Before you fly
- Arrive fit. Coaches notice match sharpness immediately, and jet lag punishes unprepared players.
- Know your position and your message — be able to describe your game in two sentences.
- Have footage and grades ready to share, so a coach's interest can turn into a conversation the same week.
During the trip
- Warm up like a professional — coaches watch the warm-up as closely as the match.
- Talk. Speak on the pitch, ask questions in sessions, and introduce yourself politely if a coach approaches.
- Look after recovery — sleep, food and hydration across a multi-match week is a competitive advantage in itself.
After the trip
Follow up within a week with every coach who showed interest — a short email, your film and your academic details. Interest from a showcase is perishable. Players who follow up while they are still fresh in a coach's mind are the ones who convert exposure into offers.
Our tour staff help with every stage of this, from pre-trip preparation to post-trip follow-up — but the habits above are what you bring yourself.
