A 'scholarship' is not a single fixed package — what it covers depends on the programme, the division and how the coach has split the team's allowance. Understanding the building blocks helps families budget honestly rather than assume.
What aid can include
- Tuition — the cost of your academic instruction, often the largest single item.
- Room — on-campus housing, or an allowance toward it.
- Board — a meal plan, or a contribution toward food costs.
- Books and course materials.
- Certain mandatory fees linked to attendance.
What it rarely covers in full
Because soccer is an equivalency sport, most awards cover only part of these costs. Travel to and from home, visas and insurance for international students, and personal living costs are usually separate. A partial athletic award can still be transformative once academic and need-based aid are stacked alongside it.

Always get the full offer in writing before committing, including what is covered each year and whether it is renewable. 'How much do I owe?' is a fair question at every stage.
